Who Knows
It's been some time since I last posted and I hope to make this a habit once again. I've begun to settle in to Byron and as I discover something of a routine perhaps more thoughts will flow.
Yesterday was All Saint's Day. I count myself among the fortunate because it was yesterday that I got to meet a living Saint. I met a member of our congregation here in Byron who has no more than two weeks to live. Yet she is meeting this process with incredible grace. I had heard stories about her before venturing over to the hospital and so I was taken back by a comment she made about hoping she had enough faith. I guess in such a situation the prayer, "Lord I believe. Help my unbelief." really would resonate. If she doesn't have enough faith, then I'm in trouble. God's grace, I am convinced, is sufficiant for me. It will be sad to see her die and join the celebration in heaven, yet at the same time I find that it is a tremendous honor to have gotten to meet her, brief as it was, for I had the honor of meeting a real live Saint (not a baseball player in St. Paul nor a football player in New Orlean's) on All Saint's Day!
